Hardhat Angus Future Breeders Award

The Hardhat Angus Future Breeder Award has been donated by Brad & Jess Cavanagh of Hardhat Angus at Harden & Dubbo.

Hardhat Angus runs 200 stud cows and sells bulls at Dubbo & Harden each year.

The winner of the Hardhat Angus Future Breeder Award will display a passion for the beef cattle industry. This award is designed to give the winner an opportunity to gain some hands on experience in all aspects of the seedstock industry. The winner will be invited to participate in weekend and school holiday work involved in the management of the Hardhat Angus stud.

You will gain experience in the following areas:

·       Analyzing cattle for functionality.

·       Selecting Bulls and Females.

·       Artificial Breeding Technologies.

·       Stud Cattle Husbandry.

·       Performance recording.

·       Understanding Genetic data.

·       Livestock feeding.

·       General farm management.

 

This is a great opportunity to learn about cattle from Brad. Brad has worked in stud cattle since he was 16, both in Australia & the US. Brad had also been to the USA representing the Registered Cattle Breeders Association on a study tour. He is very passionate about passing on his knowledge to a future breeder.
